Our School’s History
Gordon’s Bay School is 118 years old.
The school started in 1895 as a Chapel School with 26 learners. At the inaugeration of the new school building in 1980 there were 168 learners. Nowadays there are 656 learners, and the numbers are growing fast.
Our school has undertaken several exciting projects during the last few years.a Modern information technology center, library, art center, aftercare facility, 5 new class rooms, toilet facilities, a kitchen and the expansion of the staff room wascompleted. The sport facilities have been greatly improved and our learners can compete in all the different sports with our neighbouring schools in the Helderberg basin.
Gordon’s Bay Primary school has enthusiastic and involved parents who support the school activities, the governing body and staff, in order for the school to offer effective quality education. Our staff is very competent and will always walk the extra mile when needed.
We have reason to be proud of our school. GBPS has developed its own traditions over time, and has contributed largely to the academic growth, spiritual and personal development of thousands of young people over the years.the school is still the core of the town, and plays a huge part in the daily lives of the community. GBPS is a modern, progressive school that gives the learners all the opportunities to excel.
